Your Engine Is More Powerful Than Your Brakes
There is no telling where this myth originated, except perhaps from concerned parents trying to scare their kids from driving the family sports car too fast. While cars may look like they’re built for speed, they are built for safety first. Think about it – does a manufacturer really want to be known for a faster car with plenty of accidents and safety issues? Of course not.
Most cars completely cut off the throttle when you step on the brakes, making them much, much more powerful than even a thunderous V12 motor. However, this won’t be true if you don’t take care of your brakes. If you ever hear squeaking, hissing, or can tell that your brakes are “softer” than normal, take your car to a mechanic immediately.
