SUVs Are Safer Than Cars
Many SUV owners will proudly tell you that their car is much safer than the Prius or another car on the road. However, an SUV isn’t actually built with more safety features, it’s just less likely to be crushed by a smaller car. In terms of car safety standards, SUVs are considered trucks.
They are actually held to a lower safety standard than cars, making them more often than not built subpar to other vehicles. If you do happen to wreck with a Prius in your Hummer, you’ll likely be in the better position. However, if you’re in a collision with a comparably sized vehicle, your SUV may not provide as much protection as expected.
