1955 Lincoln Futura Batmobile From “Batman”
Batman is known for two things: his unorthodox origin story and his classic Batmobile. The Batmobile was made famous in the comics, and then in the 1960s TV series “Batman” starring Adam West. In the TV series, West drove a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car, which went through several modifications to have the futuristic, avant-garde style that became so iconic. It featured a stylish canopy top, exaggerated hooded headlights and sleek fins, giving it an overtly sporty look. It was modified by designer Bill Cushenberry to give it one-of-a-kind style. Unlike many show cars, it had a complete powertrain and became very popular as a model kit and show car. At auction in 2013, the Batmobile sold for $4.62 million.
