A Racecar For Real People: The McLaren Senna
It’s not strictly a concept car but it sure looks like one. If you want to gain a real understanding of how it feels to drive a race car (at a top speed of 211 mph), and you have more than $837,000 in spare change, you might be able to actually purchase a McLaren Senna – if you’re lucky. Only 500 were available in 2018, and they sold out.
Designed to be extremely aerodynamic, the Senna is McLaren’s lightest (2,850 lbs) production car in years. Since 2012, all McLarens have featured a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic cranking the rear wheels, a twin-turbo V-8, and a carbon-fiber chassis. However, improvements to the Senna increased the output to 789 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.
If you didn’t get a Senna, for 2019 expect to see the McLaren BP23, with a price tag of $2 million.
