Hurst “His & Hers” Shifter
If performance was what you were seeking in the 1960s and 70s, Hurst was the only option for a die-hard gearhead. The manufacturer of replacement manual transmission shifters and aftermarket automobile enhancing parts put out quite a few different options throughout the decades. Among heavy hitters like the 80s Hurst Lightning Rod shifter, the 1960s dual gate shifter often named “His & Hers” offered a unique shifting option for both the burly man and delicate woman. On the left side was a standard automatic shifter pattern of “PRNDL,” however, a second shifter gate was available to the right when the shifter was put into neutral. Slipping into the right side and all the way down, it enabled the driver to manually select the forward gears, allowing for some serious performance.
