The VEB Trabant
With Eastern Europe styling coming to the forefront at the conclusion of our list, the Trabant speaks testament to many failures. The failure of communism for example to produce a car, building, or rocket that didn’t look like it was drawn by a four-year-old. Or the failure of VEB for… everything.
The 1980s model had no tachometer no headlights or turn signal indicator, no fuel gauge, no rear seat belts, and no external fuel door. The fall of East Germany resulted in many wonderful cultural changes, but we should all be thankful this car went the way of the wall behind which it was built.
