How is it possible that a Ford GT from 2006 would have not even 12 miles on its odometer?
For sale in a live bidding with no reserve is a Ford GT from 2006 on the site Sotheby’s. The car is expected to net anywhere between $280,000 and $340,000 and the bidding ends on Thursday, July 11.
Ford GTs are commonly auctioned off, but this one has a striking paint job—the Mark IV red and white strips. It also has its original red brake calipers and forged BBS wheels, and inside, an upgraded radio. The description says this Mustang is one of only 327 in the red paint with white stripes.
The seller is the original owner and since it was bought, it’s been stored in Texas. While it’s a bit depressing that it’s been driven so little, perhaps its new owner will love all the available mileage on the car. After all, their money will buy them a virtually brand-new version of this Mustang. The description also says the vehicle is “considered the last of the analog supercars.”
The engine in this Mustang is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 spitting out 550 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. The car also features a Ricardo six-speed manual with a helical limited-slip differential. Top speed? 205 mph and a 0-60 time of just 3.3 seconds.
The site also notes that these numbers put this GT in competition with other supercars of its generation, including Porsche’s Carrera GT and the Mercedes-McLaren SLR.
Check out the live bidding here, which is, of this posting, at $235,000 USD.
