It has barely been a month since McLaren launched its brand new GT supercar. It’s the first McLaren where luggage space and sound insulation take high (but not top) positions on the priority list. The new model focuses on luxury, comfort, and ride quality, while keeping in touch with the company’s racing DNA.
For the last week, the 2020 McLaren GT has been doing what it was made for – grand touring. Indeed, the British manufacturer embarked on a Summer tour around Europe, visiting 18 of its 25 showrooms scattered in 11 countries across the old continent.
The company invites its customers and fans to join the events, where they will have the chance to see the GT first hand, as well as explore other supercars in McLaren’s range.
Joining the grand tourer will be the sports-oriented 570S and 720S as well as the Senna – McLaren’s ultimate track killer.
David Gilbert – Managing Director for Europe at McLaren Automotive commented:
“The McLaren GT is designed with long-range touring in mind, so a Grand Tour of the European continent is entirely fitting for our exciting new model, which will open up our brand to an important sector of the high-performance car market.”
2020 McLaren GT is already on its way, but it will be touring for a whole month, so if you’re in Europe this summer, you will have plenty of chances to catch up with it.
The full schedule as follows:
- June 17: Bristol/Birmingham & Leeds
- June 20: London/Ascot & Manchester
- June 25: Utrecht
- June 26: New Forest
- June 27: Glasgow & Brussels
- July 2: Hamburg, Frankfurt & Lugano
- July 4: Munich, Dusseldorf & Milan
- July 10: Zurich, Stuttgart & Barcelona
- July 17: Paris
This weekend, the GT also made a debut in the homeland of Gran Turismo – Italy. McLaren has launched every new car for the Italian market at Parco Valentino, Turin since 2015.
The 2020 McLaren GT is special in this regard as it softens the hardcore performance typical for its brethren and puts the emphasis on driving pleasure and long-distance comfort.
Italy is also the biggest test for McLaren as the manufacturer faces the worlds most renown luxury carmakers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani.

Ado Fassina – Chief Executive Officer at McLaren Milan shared:
“The McLaren GT is in a new segment for McLaren and will attract new customers to the brand in Italy. It is a privilege to present the car for the first time at Parco Valentino. For the past five years we have chosen Parco Valentino as the stage for our national premieres and its backdrop of excitement, passion and beauty reflects the new McLaren GT perfectly. I am really looking forward to driving the model on our beautiful roads in Italy.”
