2020 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show

Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet

The new Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, although Porsche has already debuted this gem online.

The new 2020 Cabriolet is basically a variant of the Carrera S and 4S without the top—these aforementioned models debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year.

Its updated styling falls in line with that of the 992-generation 911 Coupe. These body updates include a modern front fascia, an adaptive rear spoiler, and lightbar spanning the width of the car in the rear.

Porsche, ever a fan of convertibles with soft tops, improved the automatic folding of the new 911 Carrera Cabriolet’s top with an updated hydraulic system. Thanks to this update, it only takes 12 seconds to raise or lower the top. Similarly to previous models, you can engage the automatic folding feature at speeds up to 31 mph.

The 911 Carrera Cabriolet also features an electric wind deflector that engages as the soft top is lowered, which helps keep everyone in the vehicle safe from backdrafts.

Similarly to the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S and 4S (which are exclusively hardtops), this vehicle has a flat-six engine with 443 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Although the Carrera Cabriolet will only be featured with an automatic transmission upon launch, it’ll be offered with a manual option (at no extra cost) in the near future, so never fear, stick fans.

The 911 Carrera S Cabriolet gets to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, making it 0.4 seconds quicker than its previous model.

Inside the vehicle, Porsche prioritizes comfort in an effort to enhance driver experience, redesigning the seats and offering Sport Seats Plus upon request with even better support. A 10.9-inch infotainment system sits beside two high-definition 7-inch displays that allow the driver to see all vehicle information on virtual instruments.

Price? Porsche’s Carrera Cabriolet starts out at $126,100 and climbs from there. We’re expecting to see this vehicle available in late summer or early fall, and very much looking forward to it.
