An as-yet-unknown version of the 718 Cayman has been spotted in Sweden.
The 718 Cayman that was spied in the snow in Sweden mimics the exhaust structure of the coming GT4 (which is rumored to be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July), but appears to be a much tamer-looking version of the car.
Based on these spy shots, we’re thinking Porsche might be working on a Touring model of the 718 Cayman GT4 to provide Porsche buyers with a less aggressive and more comfortable version of their new limited edition car.
This particular Cayman has a similar grille but the wheels have a more refined look than the flashy rims of the GT4. In addition, the side intakes are more modest and the pronounced wing on the car is absent as well.
Porsche could be working on this variant that has a more docile appearance than the GT4 for those who want a more refined rather than a sporty Porsche with similar performance.
We’d still expect both models to have naturally aspirated engines and similar horsepower based on the exhaust shown in these photos, but there’s no official word from Porsche yet.
Porsche fans may remember that Porsche decided to do a similar reveal when they released the Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, which has identical power but a softer appearance. Porsche may be making the 718 Cayman GT4 Touring to mimic the success of their Touring version of the 911 GT3.
Whatever Porsche is up to, we’re looking forward to seeing all the variants that Porsche has in store for its 718 Cayman lineup.
