The latest 992 Porsche 911 Cabriolet completes a standard 0-60 test in just under 3.6 seconds despite picking up some additional weight. The new 911 will be a pleasure to drive on any stretch of open road, and more than quick enough to zoom past lesser vehicles on Germany’s autobahn.

The rear-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six delivers 444 bhp and 391 lb/ft of torque, the same as in the standard coupe version. A Carrera 4S outfitted with the Sport Chrono pack, 0-62mph is accomplished in 3.6 seconds. Without the Sport Chrono pack, you can expect a benchmark sprint at around 3.8 seconds, the rear drive S accomplishes this in 3.9.

Clearly if speed is your obsession, the new 992 Porsche 911 with Sport pack will feed the need.

Porsche has spared no expense when it comes to driving innovation. Refusing to settle simply to boost on-track performance, the new Porsche 911 also features faster roof hydraulics. The fabric top can now be lowered in just 12 seconds while driving at 33 mph or less.

Roof construction has also been reinforced with magnesium bars that prevent the soft top from parachuting out at the excessive speeds at which this beast was designed to travel.

The interior of the 992 Porsche 911 Cabriolet features a blend of high end new tech and accessories matched with refined heritage details never seen before. For example the console features a large LCD panel similar to the Panamera and Cayenne models.

On the center console there are physical controls for climate, infotainment menus and a simple (and much debated) gear selector. There is a single cup holder and electric parking brake switch, now more central than in previous versions.

Porsche has also unveiled two new apps: Road Trip and Impact.

Road Trip is fairly self-explanatory, allowing you to chart long trips with guidance for planning stops along the way.

Impact tracks CO2 impact and helps you to make more environmentally friendly driving decisions.
