Porsche fans have been talking about a potential Cayenne coupe for a few years. Now, the prototype’s officially been spied.
Porsche will be making an SUV coupe version of its Cayenne, similarly to what other German automakers have done, including Mercedes and BMW.
Of course, these SUVs aren’t technically coupes in the respect that they have four doors and not two, but manufacturers have been using this term to describe the shape and performance of the car (think smaller cargo space) rather than the door count.
Here’s what Porsche fans can expect from this new SUV.
The Design of the Cayenne Coupe
The coupe version of the Cayenne is expected to have almost identical styling on its front-end compared to the latest Cayenne models.
However, the rear will obviously be different. On the prototype, we can see the Cayenne’s sloping roof in line with its sleeker body style. The rear is fitted with a new tailgate, including new taillights, and different windows, giving the Cayenne a more coupe-like appearance.
The rear spoiler appears to be self-adjusting similarly to the current Cayenne Turbo model with some slight differences to accommodate the new rear body of the coupe.
The Drivetrain
The coupe version of the Cayenne is expected to be marketed as a performance model with two different powertrains available on launch.
We’re thinking the base model will have a V6 that offers 440 horsepower while the Turbo model that features the V8 will up the horsepower to 541.
Porsche fans are also hoping that a Turbo S E-Hybrid will be launched at some point for this coupe to add even more horsepower (671), similar to Porsche’s Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid model.
Other than the altered rear styling, we’re expecting that pretty much everything else will cross over from the current Cayenne, including the technology, interior styling, and the drivetrain.

Coming Later This Year
The Cayenne coupe doesn’t have a name yet, but will very likely arrive later this year for a 2020 model. Pricing may be similar to the current models of the Cayenne, but for a coupe version, no one knows for sure.
Buyers can expect the SUV coupe to be featured potentially this summer and be on sale later this year.
Porsche is getting in the SUV coupe game with the new version of the Cayenne. Stay tuned for the official release of this Porsche.
