Valentino Balboni and his personal brand VB have just unveiled their latest special edition exhaust for the Lamborghini SVJ. The unit is made entirely from Titanium Grade 2 and weighs just 8.8 lbs. The exhaust will reduce the car’s overall weight by 1%.
Lamborghini designed the SVJ to offer the best power to weight ratio of all Aventadors, but it’s still relatively chunky with a dry weight of 3,362 lbs. 1% reduction means saving 33.62 lbs – that’s a massive difference for a track-focused supercar where each pound counts.
Half sculpture, half working component- it was specifically designed to embody the horns of the Raging Bull, emphasizing the connection and dedication to Lamborghini.
At the same time, the shape and volume were carefully engineered to achieve the optimal gas flow in both banks of the V12 engine. In doing so, the VB exhaust will deliver a sound that’s second to none.
The VB exhaust is meticulously handcrafted and TIG welded. Of course, it’s made to fit and bolts right on the Aventador SVJ.
Valentino Balboni is a legendary figure in the Lamborghini ranks
Starting out as a mechanic apprentice and graduating into chief test pilot, Balboni dedicated his entire life to Lamborghini. He stayed in the company for 40 years and only retired after Italian work laws forced him to.
Having driven 80% of all vehicles the company built (prior to the Urus), Valentino Balboni is one of the biggest Lamborghini experts and enjoys a cult status among owners and enthusiasts.
As recognition for his service, Lamborghini created a special edition Gallardo model bearing his name. On his request, the 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni is rear-wheel drive only and features additional modifications to the E-gear transmission and limited slip differential.
After retiring, Balboni took eight years away from motorsports, but his passion brought him back home and in 2016, he launched his personal brand – VB dedicated to building exclusive limited edition exhausts for all versions of the Aventador.
Previously, we saw exhaust versions for the SV and S versions. The new one is even more fascinating. In Balboni’s words:
“This new VB exhaust is the best system that can possibly be manufactured for the extraordinary SVJ. It is symbiotic with the SVJ’s character.”
There are no details about the price, but it’s going to be an exclusive, limited-edition run. Only 63 units will be produced with another 15 bearing Valentino Balboni’s signature.
