Not to be kept out of this list, the Italians’ first appearance comes in the form of the Lambo iconic of the late sixties. The posteriore 4 litri or P400, was the first majorly successful performance car with a transversely mounted engine, and when it was released, it was the fastest production car in the world. The 3.9l V12 got you about 350 hp, taking it from 0-60 in about 7 seconds. The Miura got its name after the breed of Spanish fighting bull featured on the company’s new crest, and after it was used in the opener of The Italian Job, achieved worldwide publicity and acclaim.
