Porsche lost about $150,000 on each 959 sold, despite it being a fantastically impressive automobile. It was the first car to have automatic ride height adjustment, along with a suite of other features which pushed the envelope for technological integration for sports cars. 0-60 in 3.7 seconds was achieved with a 440 hp flat-six engine mounted in the back as per usual. This gave it a blistering top speed of 197 mph, a speed which tennis baron Boris Becker claims he actually reached on the Italian autostrada. The 959 was also the first high-performance car that had an all-wheel-drive setup.
