The Vanquish Vision Concept is Aston Martin’s entry-level, mass-produced, mid-engined supercar. It launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show along with the entire line-up following the Valkyrie.
The Valkyrie will be limited to 150 units. The Valkyrie AMR Pro track-version has just 25 units planned. Both will cost somewhere in the range of $3-4 million. AM-RB 003 will see a price of around $1.3 million with only 500 units planned for production. These cars are nothing less than automotive artworks, but that also makes them too exclusive.
To secure a place in the mid-engine supercar market, Aston Martin needs a vehicle that’s available to the general public. The Vanquish is the answer to McLaren 720S, Ferrari 488 and the new F8 Tributo.
The car is still an early concept – planned to go in production in 2022. Aston Martin will need time to refine the technology through AM-RB 003 and tone it down even further to fit the projected price of $200 – $400 thousand.
Vanquish Vision will inherit the 003 powertrain. It will use a tuned down version of the Aston Martin twin-turbo V6 engine with hybrid assistance.
One big change is the Vanquish will not use a carbon fiber construction. The car will have a bonded aluminum chassis with hybrid carbon-aluminum tub.
The design direction closely follows the Valkyrie and 003 but trades even more performance for aesthetics. The Vanquish is smooth and elegant with continuous blending lines – a craft which Aston Martin is well versed in.
There are no active surfaces, but the car still shows the focus on aerodynamics. The rear wing is replaced by a fixed tail-kick in the body. The side channels and rear diffuser have been downsized just a little – still massive in their own right.
The rear-view cameras have been moved in their conventional location, supported by beautiful curved structures.
Vanquish Vision Concept is just a gorgeous sculpture right now. There is lot of time before we see these rolling around the street. However, it’s the proper supercar to round of the mid-engine line-up by Aston Martin.
