U.S. News and World Report recently named the Subaru Outback as one of the Best New Cars for Teens, primarily because of its safety features, including accident prevention and crash protection technologies. The cars that were chosen (out of a hundred models) for the list offered the best driver assistance and reliability crash test scores.

The technology includes the Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist as well as Vehicle Lane Departure Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Sensors in the rear bumper can stop the car before a collision, as part of the Reverse Automatic Braking system.

The 2017 Outback was named as a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for frontal crash because of the EyeSight system and HID headlights.
