BMW has released photos of what they’re calling the BMW Vision M, a concept car that could replace BMW’s luxury i8 in a few years.
The colors of the vehicle appear to combine the colors featured on the i8 and BMW’s M1, a car the German automaker stopped producing in 1981.
The car is a hybrid, featuring a turbocharged engine that works alongside electric motors. Horsepower? A surprising 600. We’re expecting the car would have some updates to its hybrid technology by the time it’s released.
The mid-engine is a four-cylinder and turbocharged. It would supposedly let the driver choose between all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. In its dynamic driving mode, the car would get to 62 mph in just 3 seconds, making it BMW’s fastest car ever.
Another driving mode called Ease would create a noiseless electric ride for about 62 miles, allowing it to cover longer distances. The driver is the focus of the car’s features—your face would unlock the car, your touch would allow the wing doors to open. The cabin is minimal, allowing you to stay focused on the road.
However, technology would allow the driver to see all necessary information in a reality display that’s integrated into the windshield. We can’t help but feel like this is a modern version of the M1. No pricing ideas yet but we’re reportedly less five years away from an official production model of the car.
