The highly anticipated remodel of GM’s meanest muscle car has Corvette enthusiasts world-wide standing by with bated breath. Unfortunately, we’re still going to be waiting a little longer.

Will we be getting a sneak peak at the spring auto shows? Highly unlikely. The electrical issue that has put production behind on the C8 by six months is spelling out an official reveal for the new Corvette probably next summer as a standalone event instead of at a venue like the Detroit or LA Auto Shows.

Sitting lower, longer and wider than its predecessor, the C8 is expected to be faster too – anticipating an output of up to 1,000 hp depending on the trim – more muscle than the electrical system is apparently prepared to handle. Rumors from GM have it that in building their latest magnum opus, they’d overestimated how much power its current system could manage.

We’re being told not to worry though; their engineers are on it.

No official numbers on the C8’s exact dimensions have been released yet, but current estimates put it right where we would expect it to be, in line with the Ferrari 488 and the McLaren 650S. And we can hardly wait to watch it test its mettle against the big dogs.
