First Look: The Interior of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette

Originally debuting in 1952, the Chevrolet Corvette has gone through some major changes while consistently remaining Chevy’s most iconic ride. Widely touted as “America’s Sports Car,” up until the C7, the brand has been criticized for lacking refined interior styling and high end details.

The 2020 Corvette Zora ZR1 (aka the C8), features an interior that improves further upon the C7 interior, which was already a huge step in the right direction quality-wise.

Step into the Driver’s Seat

Stepping into the driver’s seat, one of the first things you will notice is a twin-spoked leather and chrome steering wheel featuring a reimagined, new Corvette logo and a fairly chunky center.

You’ll find the usual paddle shifters, control stalks, and various adjustments for changing the wheel’s height, cruise control, etc.

The instrument panel features an entirely digital design. While purists may scoff at this, the layout itself looks bright and classy. This is complimented with the addition of an 8 inch Display showcasing the new Infotainment control system.

Chevrolet has mostly done away with the excessive use of cheap plastic materials in this upcoming Corvette, instead opting for a high end upholstered look that looks like it would be at home in cars costing far more.

Continuing to the seats, the ones installed in the prototype model are encased in a heavy black leather accented with red stitching and some fabric panels. Overall, the seats look like they are designed to keep the driver in place in excess of 1g turns.

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette features door panels constructed with the same higher end materials found in the center console. They feature Bose speakers, push-button handles and a metallic insert that encloses the window adjustments.

Prepare for Lift Off

The Zora ‘Vette is getting a lot of attention from car enthusiasts due to the fact it will have a mid-engine design for the first time in the brand’s long history. It’s the latest iteration of a very well known model but it will be a radical departure from its predecessors.

Expected to cost in excess of $100,000 with over 600 hp and the ability to easily reach top speeds of over 200 MPH, the new 2020 Zora ‘Vette was definitely designed to compete with likes of Porsches, Ferraris, and Mclarens.

It is predicted to be a premium grade supercar built in the U.S. and sold at a price far below that of the cars it’s competing against.

The Zora designation is honoring Zora Arkus Duntov, a Belgian engineer who joined the Corvette design group in the early 1950’s and promptly dedicated himself to finding a way to drop a V-8 engine into a sporty little two- door coupe. Interestingly, although many purists are balking at the new mid-engine layout, Zora originally wanted that for the original Corvette, but was overruled.

Today, the all-new Corvette is poised to make history once again as it seeks to be the pride and joy of anyone with a healthy appreciation for speed.
