Talk about a major letdown…
The Infiniti QX Inspiration all-electric SUV concept was one of the most highly anticipated debuts at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Unfortunately for Infiniti enthusiasts, the wait will have to be a little longer.
Set to make its worldwide debut, apparently the Infiniti QX that the company hoped to show suffered some technical issues and was unable to make it on stage as scheduled.
In its place, Karim Habib, Executive Design Director for Infiniti Motors showed up to apologize to fans and press in attendance for the preview.
Onlookers witnessed the QX stall and then completely break down while attempting to exit the backstage area at NAIAS. Later that afternoon the vehicle was able to make it back on stage.
Things aren’t all negative for Infiniti though. Despite missing it’s scheduled debut at the NAIAS, the company was awarded a prestigious visual design award.
For the judges of the EyesOn Design awards, the car took top honor as the most innovative use of color, graphics or material, best designed interior and best concept car.
Clearly there is something special about the Infiniti QX and hopefully the world will get to have a closer look soon.
