The final of five Italdesign Zerouno supercars will go to a sale next month at RM Sotheby’s auction in Essen, Germany.

Zerouno is the first car wearing the Italdesign name. It launched at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show with all 5 units already sold for $1.7 million before production even began.

Italdesign is a legendary Italian industrial design studio founded in 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. The company has since designed and developed dozens of cars for Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati, Audi, Volkswagen, Bugatti, BMW, and other manufacturers.

After years of collaboration with Volkswagen Group, in 2010 Italdesign sold 90.1% of its shares to Lamborghini S.p.A (owned by Audi AG, owned by VW).

In 2016, as a manifesto of its new era without Giugiaro at the lead, Italdesign announced a new division – Automobili Speciali. The new subsidiary is entirely dedicated to designing and manufacturing high-end performance vehicles.

Their first project is Zerouno. The design is an aggressive blend of Italdesign’s portfolio with a big emphasis on brands within VW Group. We can see some Audi and Bugatti-inspired features like the headlights, rear quarter panel intakes, and spine.

There is plenty of Lamborghini in the mix. The rear end looks like an Aventador taken to the extreme and the vicious aerodynamic surfaces are notorious of the Sant’Agata brand.

Beyond the looks, the Zerouno is also Lamborghini powered. The 5.2-liter, naturally aspirated V10 engine and 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission are sourced directly from Huracan, giving the Zerouno a familiar performance. With 610 hp and 383.5 lbs/ft of torque delivered to all four wheels, it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 205 mph.

The five owners were given exclusive rights to customize their vehicles, resulting in 5 very differently styled supercars. The last one produced comes in stealth black with the full carbon fiber package. The Italian flag proudly spans the center of the body and appears on numerous smaller details throughout the car.

This Zerouno has not been registered and all mileage is accumulated during delivery and testing of the vehicle. Practically brand new, the car will go to sale on 11-12 of April at RM Sotheby’s auction in Essen, Germany. The auctioneer expects it to sell for $1.1 to $1.7 million.
