Toyota has been keeping the A90 a secret for far too long, and it’s understandable that Supra fans have been doing the impossible to get a peek on the 2020 model.
Earlier in the year, a Japanese magazine published an issue full with pictures of the A90 Supra. At the time, everybody had doubts that the images could be edited versions of the 2014 FT-1 concept.
After seeing the real thing sitting in that trailer, we know the pictures were real, which opens new questions on how the magazine managed to get the images.
Toyota won’t be happy about these developments and somebody will probably lose their job over the newest photo, but either way, the cat is out of the bag and there’s no going back.
The final design is considerably different than the FT-1 concept (pictured above).
The protruding nose is dialed back and the grooves separating the hood from the headlight / wheel well panels are less aggressive. The new shape is a lot more gentle and beautiful to look at.
The features of the front end have been elongated. With the addition of a central air tunnel and the new, less square, side tunnels, the grille resembles a lot more the iconic vision of the A80.
The tricker headlights also bear resemblance to the vehicle’s predecessor, and keeping the slits going inward makes the car look aggressive and vicious.
It’s clear that Toyota is using many of the features from the TF-1 concept, while it pays homage to the historic design that made the Supra into what it is today.
