SUVs are generally not fast cars. They are too heavy. Their bulky shells create too big of a drag area and plenty of lift because of the ride height. The high center of gravity makes them less stable in the corners and increases the chance of rollovers.

But, of course, SUVs are not for sports driving…Unless you’re Lamborghini.

The guys at Lamborghini know very well you’re not going to use your Aventador or Huracan for mundane daily driving around town. God forbid you step beyond the pavement.

So, Lamborghini built the Urus – an SUV that’s perfectly capable of doing all your school runs grocery store trips. Furthermore, the Urus handles rugged terrain exceptionally well. Even though it’s doubtful anyone will ever take it camping or rallying.

But Lamborghini didn’t stop there. No vehicle wears the raging bull emblem without being sufficiently quick. In fact, the Lamborghini Urus might be the first SUV that actually has a place on the race track.

The production version packs 641 hp courtesy of its 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8. Even more impressive is the 627 lb/ft of torque, which becomes available from 2,000 RPM.

It gives the Urus acceleration up to 60mph in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. It’s one of the fastest production SUVs and will probably kill all of its competitors on an oval track. However, in 0-60 times, it gives way to both Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and Tesla Model X.

Well, Manhart has something to say about that. The German performance tuning company just unveiled their version of the Lamborghini Urus. And, it’s more preposterous than you can imagine.

Manhart’s Lamborghini Urus offers 812hp and 723 lb/ft – more than any other SUV on the market. The power boost comes thanks to several performance upgrades:

  • Larger turbochargers to pack more air into the cylinders and produce a bigger bang
  • New Manhart exhaust system allows an increased flow of expended gasses
  • Reinforced 8-speed automatic to match the increased power output of the engine
  • Engine remap to accommodate the new hardware

It’s hard to compete in a drag race versus an electric engine, but the Manhart Urus will give the Model X a good run for its money on the ¼ mile. But with more power, more torque and less weight compared to the Trackhawk, Jeep will probably have to move over.

Manhart also worked on the exterior of the vehicle. The Urus received new aggressive bumpers with well-defined splitter and diffusor and exaggerated aerodynamic surfaces. The wheel arches are widened to accommodate the massive Manhart Concave One, 21-inch wheels.

The racing stripes sit beautifully off-center. And if it’s not visible enough, we’ve got accents in red, visible on the engine, the brake calipers, and the exhaust tailpipes. Manhart made sure everybody would know you’re driving the most tricked out SUV out there.

As for the price, a listing on Mobile.de indicates you need to dish out $460,000 for the Manhart Lamborghini Urus. That’s more than double the base price of $200,000.
