Mate Rimac, founder of the Croatian car company Rimac Automobili, is giving Porsche’s all-electric Taycan his approval.
Rimac recently tested out the Taycan, posting a photo of himself in front of the car in Stuttgart, Porsche’s headquarters. He also posted a caption, saying, “Porsche has done a very good job. I would definitely consider the Taycan as a private car.”
Rimac Automobili, which is headquartered in Croatia, makes electric hypercars. In fact, Porsche purchased a 10 percent stake in Rimac’s company, and Rimac is set to work with Porsche on its future electric powertrains.
The 31-year-old CEO tested a Taycan prototype with minimal camouflage, which means the final production car will look very similar if not identical. The final version of the Taycan is scheduled to premiere at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month.
However, we did get a look at the Taycan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which got attention from commenters in regards to its almost comically-oversized taillights, which were just a ruse to keep people from seeing the final version of the car.
The base model of the Taycan is expected to have an 80 kWh battery which will feature two different options, 322 horsepower and 376 horsepower, both rear-wheel drive.
However, for buyers who want more power, the Taycan Carrera 4S will have a 96 kWh battery offered in 429 horsepower and 483 horsepower with all-wheel drive. And for those who still aren’t impressed with these numbers, the Taycan Turbo will feature 600 horsepower with 649 lb.-ft. of torque.
No pricing has been set yet for the Taycan but we’re thinking $90,000 to start with numbers increasing for the Turbo version, which could cost upwards of $150,000.
