The Honda S2000 was one of the most successful sports cars of the new millennium. Affordable and performing beyond its class, the S2000 quickly became a fan-favorite benchmark for a sports car. The car has also received much praise from publications like Car and Driver, Top Gear, Road and Track, Jalopnik and many more.
However, despite the critical acclaim, the popular sports car failed to meet Honda’s economic goals and ceased production in 2009.
Well fans will be ecstatic to hear about a brand new Honda S2000 is for sale on Bring A Trailer. Somehow, one of the last cars built was perfectly preserved for a full decade.
It’s a 2009 Honda S2000 – one of 84 completed in Berlina black with black leather interior. The car has never been registered and only has 91 miles on the dashboard. It even retains its factory warranty until April 2019.
This is the closest you can get to a factory new.
The S2K is in spotless physical condition. The car has spent all its life as a museum piece. It’s been in storage and original paintwork and interior are impeccably maintained. There are no scratches, rips or chips.
The S2000 exclusive F22C engine is pristine. The 2.2-liter, VTEC-powered, inline-4 produces 237 horsepower and 162 lb/ft of torque and revs up to 8,000 RPM. Honda S2K also packs a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential driving the rear wheels.
Given its easy life, the S2000 should still accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.8 seconds, run the quarter mile in 14.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 149 mph.
2009 Honda S2000 – Source: Bring a TrailerWeighing less than 3,000 pounds with a balanced 50/50 split, the car offers great handling. With a rigid chassis and stiff suspension, the S2000 is more stable than you’d expect from a drop-top roadster.
This car was built to make you happy and inspire you to discover a new joy in sports driving. It’s a shame this Honda was never driven to its full potential, but there’s still hope if it finds a buyer. The Honda S2000 is a masterpiece of Japanese auto engineering and deserves to be shown to future generations.
At the modest cost of $35,000 in 2009, Honda S2000 was an affordable roadster with superior performance. The unique status of this exhibit doubles its value. The current highest bit at Bring a Trailer is $70,000 and there are 4 more days until the end of the auction.
