Patiopoulo-Perdikaki Road, Greece

More a track than a road, and frequented more by shepherds and their flocks than by motorists, the Patiopoulo-Perdikaki road is as hard to traverse as it is to pronounce, and one of the world’s most dangerous. The climb up narrow paths to the 17-mile road can reach inclines as high as 21%. Desperately clinging to the side of a mountain, the road lacks any guard rails to save a foolhardy through-driver from plummeting to their death and is strewn with potholes and loose gravel which is known to become treacherous when wet. Certainly one to avoid.
