The S6 has been completely renovated for 2020 to better deliver on customers’ expectations of luxury and performance.
Audi’s S model gets enhanced performance on the road with a new twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine, putting out 444 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. The TFSI engine allows the vehicle to get to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
Its electric turbo is a 48V Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle system, which boosts efficiency and performance. The electric compressor in this S6 will be a first for US Audis and is designed to eliminate turbo lag and boost the responsiveness of the vehicle.
Buyers can expect a standard eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive with better handling through active torque distribution to both axels. The torque distribution delegates 60 percent of torque to the rear and 40 percent to the front, although power can be adjusted to send up to 70 percent to the front and up to 85 percent to the rear.
Quattro sport differential provides a more dynamic driving experience and enhances agility around corners. The vehicle will be available with an S sport package which will include all-wheel steering for even better handling and stability, a sport exhaust system, and red brake calipers
A drive select setting allows the driver to choose their mode to focus on either a more comfortable ride or a more sporty feel.
So what’s new for the exterior? It’s been upgraded with edgy design elements, including new bumpers, a double-slate platinum grille, and aluminum side mirrors. Four tailpipes—two on each side—specific to the S-model with a rear diffuser inlay in black chrome matte complete the exterior.
The S6’s 20-inch wheels come standard, with summer performance tires available. You can also go for 21-inch wheels if you prefer.
The S6 didn’t forget its luxury touches that buyers love—a heated steering wheel, Valcona leather sport seats, and stainless steel doorsills with an illuminated S logo complete the package.
The S6 carries certain technologies over from the A6, including a full-color display, standard navigation and touch system, and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. Let’s not forget the virtual cockpit which comes standard to enhance infotainment and navigation capabilities.
The 2020 S6 starts at a balmy $73,900, which doesn’t include taxes, destination, or other fees. And, if you want a few upgrades, you’re looking to spend closer to $80k.
