Apparently, the 2020 Chevy Corvette C8 is almost sold out, according to the design chief at General Motors (GM), and in less than two weeks after its debut on July 18th.
The design chief at GM, Michael Simcoe, alluded that the brand-new C8 is nearly sold out for the 2020 year at the Concours d’Elegance of America. The event was held in Plymouth, Michigan yesterday on July 28th and is considered one of the country’s most prestigious car shows.
At the golf course, Simcoe said, “I think the orders have already hit the first year of production numbers,” according to AutoBlog. When asked to elaborate, Simcoe said, “It’s nearly sold out. It’s so close that it’s bound to be sold out soon.”
No productions numbers were given at the event, but Chevy customers have been able to reserve a 2020 Corvette via an online registration form, and at the Concours d’Elegance of America, interested customers could do the same.
Chevy hasn’t released any official numbers for the C8’s first year on the market, and as a result, we can’t know how many people have registered to buy one so far.
Time is apparently running out for people still interested in the first mid-engine Corvette, although we’re expecting Chevy will continue production of this new model in the future for would-be buyers who aren’t able to snag one this year.
The new C8 was one of the many diverse cars featured on the lawn at the event, so Corvette fans and interested buyers could get an up-close look at the new mid-engine model. Stay tuned to see if GM announces the official numbers of the 2020 C8’s production or if they announce it’s been officially sold out.
