Unveiled at the 2019 Geneva International Auto Show in Switzerland, the Ginetta Akula Supercar is an apex predator worth keeping your eye on. Named after the Russian word for “Shark”, the Akula is a beautiful beast capable of pushing over 600 brake horsepower and 516lb ft of torque.

Built from a similar framework to Ginetta’s 2019 LMP1, the new Akula supercar has the aggressive styling and brutal performance to match. With a history that goes way back to 1958, specialized racing and sports car producer Ginetta has been around the block, but has never birthed something as insane as the Akula.

Ginetta designed the Akula supercar with a dry-sumped, naturally aspirated V8 engine mounted in front part of the car. The Leeds, England based automaker produces the Akula’s engine block from milled billet aluminum.

The ferocious Ginetta Akula is pushed with its rear wheels and guided by a six-speed, paddle-shifting gearbox with carbon fiber propshaft. Much of the car’s external body shape is created in ultra lightweight materials which give the car a surprisingly light weight of just 2,535 pounds. That’s roughly the size of a large and well-fed Great White Shark.

With only 20 Ginetta Akulas set to go into production, this is destined to be a very rare and exotic creature. Priced at over $500,000, the Akula has a price that matches the ferociousness of its design details.

Built for speed, the Akula is said to be able to drive in excess of 200 miles per hour. While that will be much too quick for legal driving just about anywhere in the United States – this Ginetta has anti-lock brakes, traction control and a rear reversing camera – making it more suited for daily driving than you might think.

The Ginetta Akula includes a roll-cage, adjustable pedal box, and seats molded directly into the car’s frame. It has carbon-ceramic brakes and a completely adjustable suspension allowing for ultimate experimentation.

To top off the luxury elements, Ginetta also blinged out the Akula with satellite navigation, air conditioning, and heated front and rear windows. This supercar also includes a truly massive 23.8 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk making it the perfect choice for long, scenic escapes on the open road.
