Weighing over 111 tons fully loaded, the Kuhn Schweiz AG E-Dumper is a high-powered electric-mining vehicle, and the world’s largest EV. Developed in Switzerland, this heavy electrical transport can tow up to 60 tons, as a completely 0 emission, Energy PLUS vehicle.
The World’s Largest EV
Switzerland has long been associated with the specialized production of high-tech and special purpose vehicles. Electric energy storage research and development has flourished. The converted Komatsu transport employs an innovative system which allows it to recover and store energy on downhill runs, to be utilized while going back up.
Regenerative braking allows the E-Dumper to produce more energy than it consumes. This is the core of the Energy PLUS concept and the future of super-powerful, sustainable and energy-efficient vehicles.
At 45 tons of weight unloaded, the Kuhn Schweiz AG E-Dumper is the world’s largest electric vehicle.
The World’s Largest Electric Battery Installed in a Vehicle
As the heavy transport descends, energy is stored in the world’s largest electric battery. Weighing over 5 tons, the Kuhn Schweiz AG E-Dumper’s battery is more than 7 times the size of one of Tesla, Inc.’s.
Before Kuhn Schweiz AG modified the Komatsu mining vehicle, it produced 739 HP from a 1413 in³ turbodiesel engine. It now produces 789 HP thanks to a single synchronous electric motor pushing 7,007 lb-ft torque.
The world’s largest EV far surpasses conventional mining transportation technology. Kuhn claims the E-Dumper could save up to 130 tons of CO2 and 50,000 liters of diesel every year.
