The New Porsche 911 is Unveiled

The 8th generation Porsche 911 is here in two avatars: the Carrera S and Carrera 4S. Both models sport significantly updated engines with six cylinders.

At the recent LA motor show this car attracted immense crowds for both its handsome looks and promised magnificent performance. The latest Porsche 911 features revised horizontally opposed engines, involving a novel fuel injection system for extra combustion efficiency.

The Two Models

Carrera S is rear-wheel drive, while Carrera 4S comes with a four-wheel drive. There is an updated new power plant that produces an awesome 444bhp. The updated gears and double clutch gearbox supports an improved 0.4 seconds 0 to 60 mph acceleration time for both the models (3.5 seconds and 3.4 seconds, respectively).

Together with modified gearbox software, the Porsche 911 allows faster gearshifts, and also includes a sport response feature that improves performance.

Improved Platform Structure

The new Porsche 911 has undergone extensive re-engineering. It comes with an innovative platform structure that contains increased use of aluminum in its rear portion, thereby enhancing balanced weight distribution.

In the same way, an updated chassis provides a rear-wheel steering system to both models. Porsche maintains that this provides both models with increased agility and superior stability at high speeds.

Style

When it comes to styling, the all new Porsche 911 maintains its characteristic design of its predecessors. There is not much change in the angle of the windscreen or contour of the glasshouse.

The rear window is wider, the newly designed spoilers impart extra down-force at high speeds, and the OLED tail lights create a continuous eye-catching LED light band.

The Porsche 911 is a powerful, aesthetically appealing vehicle with tremendous performance and a sleek, road-hugging design.
