The Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster is officially for sale and costs over $226,000, which is $38,000 more than the hard-top version of this car. It’s more in the range of the AMG GT, which is the Pro version.
We first saw this car at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

But why is it so much more expensive than its hard-top version?
The only difference between the GT R Roadster and its hard-top version are the retractable roof and the strengthening elements to compensate for the lack of a permanent top, which results in a heavier weight.
The Pro version – which comes in at about ten thousand more than the Roadster – will get you an adjustable steel anti-roll bar, carbon fiber front and roof, forged wheels, a roll cage, and a four-point harness with a fire extinguisher. But even with all this, it’s still lighter than the AMG GT R. The Pro also has a better aerodynamic design.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster has the same 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that puts out 572 hp and 516 lb.-ft. of torque as the GT R and the Pro version, and it can even match the 0-60 time in 3.6 seconds despite its extra weight. It tops out at 197 mph, which is just 1 mph short of the others.
The interior of the GT R Roadster comes with Napa leather-trimmed sport seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, and a Burmester sound system.
But the Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster doesn’t provide what the Pro version brings, so why is it so expensive? We have no answer except that perhaps only 750 of these cars are being made worldwide.
