Trail Ridge Road, Colorado
The Trail Ridge Road is the highest continually paved road in the United States! Winding as high as 12,183 feet through the Rocky Mountain National Park, this Colorado trail follows the route traced out by Native Americans for thousands of years over the Continental Divide. Drivers of this Historic trail will get to see elk, deer, pikas, marmots, ptarmigans and even bighorn sheep. Covering 48-miles between Estes Park on the east side and Grand Lake on the west, Trail Ridge Road more than lives up to its hype. Eleven miles of this spectacular highway travel above treeline and winds across vast tundra.
