17-Mile Drive, California
Spanning California’s Monterey Peninsula and stretching from the towns of Pacific Grove to Carmel, 17-Mile Drive is a privately-owned strip off Highway 1 that offers views of surf-beaten cliffs and colonies of harbor seals. It also boasts some of the country’s most spectacular sunsets over the Pacific, which alone makes the $10 entry fee well worth it. This road runs through Del Monte forests belonging to the exclusive Pebble Beach golf community and is an enchanting vista of dramatic coastal cliffs, snow-white beaches, mystical forests, and iconic golf courses. Meet the inspiring Lone Cypress and the giant trees of Crocker Grove, and stroll through the boardwalk above the beach at Spanish Bay.
