In Macedonia, Even the Front-Seat Passenger Must Be Sober
If you thought having your own breathalyzer is a bit too much, imagine having to worry about the sobriety of your passenger as well. So if a friend of yours had too many drinks and you need to take him or her home, the law requires that they can only stay in the back seat. The law does make sense from a certain point of view, as a drunken passenger can indeed be distracting. What doesn’t make sense is that a drunken person might need to be seen and assisted in certain situations, not to mention the fact that they can distract the driver from the back seat too and the driver won’t have the chance to see it coming.
