The new Toyota Supra is one of the most talked-about cars in the last few months. We thought that with the initial reveal the fans would settle down, but boy were we wrong.
In fact, the sports coupe is more popular then ever since the majority of media outlets released their first drive videos and especially after Carwow’s comparison test with its twin – the Z4.
However, the Supra hasn’t landed at dealerships just yet and Toyota is dedicated to making sure everybody knows about their halo car before that happens. Thus, we’ve witnessed the launch of a new ad campaign broadcasted on the TV, as well as digitally in various online channels.
The main commercial is the 30-second video at the top, showing the Supra thriving in its natural environment, shredding rubber at Road Atlanta and putting a huge smile on the driver’s face.
Accompanying it are 8 short clips – just 6 seconds each, showing different aspects of the Supra’s performance.
“Joy” shows the car painting a smiley face with its rear tires. In “Face-off”, the new generation Supra stops within a hair’s width from a 90’s era A80 model for a “family reunion”.
There are more short clips coming, but you’ll have to wait for them a little longer.
- “0 to 60”
- “Balanced”
- “Ribbon”
- “Sport Mode”
- “Walks On Water”
You will also enjoy this video posted a week ago, following two Supras as they chase around a curvy road, tearing up the skies with the heavenly roar of their 3.0-liter, inline-6 engines.
Chief Engineer Tetsuya Tada, responsible for the 2020 Toyota Supra development, shared that the sound of the engine is one of the features he cherishes the most, especially since new noise regulations will eventually ban loud exhaust sounds.
It says 335 horsepower in the brochure, but we already know there’s a lot more packed under the hood. And more importantly, the car is designed with the turners in mind, providing additional space for extra hardware, intakes and vents for cooling and even mounting points for reinforcement.
There is no release date, but expect the 2020 Toyota Supra to drop in dealerships soon.
The Launch Edition will bear a price tag of $55,250. If you want to save 5 grand, you’ll have to exercise some patience and wait for the release of the Standard Edition, which will cost $49,990 but will come out later in the year.
