Troublemaker Dressed as Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker Leads LAPD on a High-Speed Chase

Joaquin Phoenix stars as the Joker.

Last week, a comic book fan kicked off a bizarre series of events in Los Angeles leading to a high-speed chase which ended on Venice Beach.

While wearing a Joker mask from the 2012 Graphic Novel Batman Vol. 3: Death of the Family by Todd Snyder is not a crime, driving dangerously and intentionally scaring other drivers certainly is.

At this time, it is unclear what exactly drove 40 year old Damik A. Disdier of Santa Ana, California to don a Joker mask and create movie-like mayhem around L.A.

What is clear however, is that these events began with the masked man hanging out of the sunroof of a late model BMW making strange and threatening gestures to passing traffic.

Life Imitates Art: A Real Joker Behind the Wheel

Police eventually entered into a pursuit of Disdier’s BMW in Westminster, California. More than 40 miles later, the dangerous high speed chase came to a dramatic end next to the Pacific Ocean at Venice beach.

During the chase, which was televised live, Disdier sat on the roof of his car, displaying a prop chainsaw. Law enforcement did not appreciate this display and now Disdier is facing at least one felony count of fleeing an officer while driving recklessly.

The chase came to a truly memorable finish when Disdier drove his car onto the boardwalk at Venice Beach before attempting to flee on foot across the beach.

Before being captured by law enforcement Disdier literally stopped to assist in covering a random person with sand on the beach. As unbelievable as this sounds, it was captured on film.
