Let The Sun Take You: The 2030 Solar Powered Car
Moldovan designer Mihai Stamati has designed a futuristic but practical car, the solar-powered 2030. The solar panels on the roof and in the car’s rear can power the car to transport four or five adults in comfort. Instead of a steering wheel or pedals, the driver has a joystick. The utilitarian vehicle is more practical than stylish, although there are many windows for a scenic ride. Want to go on a picnic? There are two rows of seats, with room for a picnic table if you want to eat and view a meteor shower, for example. There is also room for an extended section for more passengers, so the 2030 operates like a van. Two electric motors behind the back seats power the wheels, but the top speed of this vehicle is less than 30 mph.
It’s more cartoonish than cool, but the 2030 portends a slower, more “enjoy the ride” type of futuristic vehicle.
