An Affordable Electric: Byton All-Electric SUV
A new company in China, Byton, was formed by ex-executives of Nissan, Tesla, and BMW with Chinese investors. Byton has created an all-electric SUV, the M-Byte, with some very cool features – like a six-inch high screen that stretches from just right of the steering wheel all the way to the passenger’s side window. Although the production car may not be exactly the same as the prototype offered for viewing, the automaker says it will be 85% the same. The Byton’s standard items may include cameras in place of side mirrors, face recognition technology, and voice and gesture controls.
The electric SUV also includes a 71 kWh battery that will charge to 80% in 30 minutes and holds a charge for 250 miles. For a base price of $45,000, it’s a bargain.
