When American Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956, she went from American movie star to royalty. However, her life ended tragically when she suffered a stroke while driving her 1971 Rover P6 3500 and her car plunged down an embankment. Her daughter Stephanie was in the car also and suffered a cervical fracture but made a full recovery.

Kelly was best known for her starring roles in the Hitchcock classics Rear Window and To Catch a Thief. She won an Oscar for The Country Girl, opposite Bing Crosby. She starred again with Crosby in High Society, a remake of The Philadelphia Story and her last film role.  After she married, however, her film career stopped. She gave birth to three children, including the heir to Monaco’s throne, Albert.
