If all you wanted today was to wake up to a saucy photo of the electric blue rear of Corvette’s highly anticipated C8, you got your wish.
The photo was posted on a Corvette Forum by a user based in Maryland (who appears to have later uploaded the image to Instagram) who alleges he found the photo on Facebook. He tentatively suggested the photo’s legit, and we have to admit, it does appear to be.
The image is reminiscent of the Nürburgring Corvettes that we’ve been seeing tested, but this image of the 2020 Corvette, unlike some of the spotted prototypes, is in Elkhart Lake Blue. In the photo, we get an up-close look at the newly designed wing spoiler.
Corvette fans are finally getting to see the taillights of the not-yet-revealed mid-engine, which looks a bit like the C7 in the way the outer edges taper off to each side. The lights will purportedly have sequential turn signals.
The bottom part is black, again, similar to the C7 Corvettes and adds some flashy contrast to the car. Each side has two exhaust pipes, but we’re not seeing any details on the exhaust setup beyond that.
The C8 appears to have been photographed at an assembly plant, based on the lift and chain setup, the poor quality of the photo, and the close shot. Corvette hasn’t commented on the photo or whether or not it plans to release additional photos.
Corvette did, however, post a brand-new video on the C8 reveal on their Facebook page, although we’re assuming this wasn’t in response to the leaked rear of the new mid-engine C8.
The Corvette Museum recently auctioned off two tickets to see the C8 reveal live (which sold for over $15,000) which is just around the corner, happening next Thursday on July 18. Will there be more leaked photos to come? All we can do now is stay tuned until the official reveal.
