For classic car collectors, the Ford Shelby is a much-coveted automobile. Ford is seeking some new blood and will unveil the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 in 2019 – reportedly a 700 horsepower monster. Pundits suggest the new Shelby is being pushed into production to beat out the competition from the new Dodge Challenger and the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.
In March of 2018, Ford released a tantalizing photo of the front grill of the new Shelby, but provided few details — and no photos of the entire car! Rumor has it this will be the first GT500 with an independent rear suspension. Speculation is that it might have an EcoBoost setup, or possibly the V8 will be bolstered by a supercharger.
Fans of the new Shelby will have to be patient. The official debut won’t happen until the 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
