California Doesn’t Allow Women To Drive While Wearing a Housecoat
You would think that being behind the wheel of your own car would give you full freedom regarding wardrobe choices. California is, however, special in a number of ways, not all of them positive. An antiquated but still technically active law states that women are not allowed to drive while only wearing a housecoat, also known as a nighty. It’s a ridiculous law whichever way you look at it, from assuming a housecoat is indecent to the lack of a male equivalent like men not being allowed behind the wheel in a tank top and underwear. So ladies, if you have the munchies late at night, make sure you’re wearing proper street clothes or the real police might turn into the fashion police.
